Early Intervention Service
The Early Intervention Service, which forms part of the National School Support Services in the Ministry of Education, Sport, Youth, Research & Innovation, started way back many years ago as a service provided by teachers with a special interest in Early Intervention. In 2010, the service was relaunched to provide a better and more efficient service to its service users. Nowadays it is made up of Principal Education Support Practitioners, Senior Education Support Practitioners, Education Support Practitioners and Early Intervention Teachers, under the guidance of the Education Officer in Inclusion Ms. Nadja Caruana. The team is made up of professionals with various backgrounds such as Speech and Language Therapy, Psychology and Education amongst others. The team offers a service to children between the ages of 0-5 years of age, who are presenting with delays and disabilities. The service is provided in different settings which include the child’s home environment, childcare centres and schools (state, independent and church).
