I think I can: Fostering Growth Mindsets in the Early Years

Dr Fiona Boylan is a lecturer in Early Childhood Studies in the School of Education at Edith Cowan University in Perth, Western Australia. She has had extensive experience teaching in early childhood settings across the early years of school. Fiona’s research interests centre on developing children’s metacognitive skills to enhance their learning capabilities and agency towards learning. In particular, her PhD focused on the work of Carol Dweck’s mindset theory and researched the implementation of mindset theory to foster growth mindsets in the early years context. Dr. Boylan's contributions have earned her a distinguished standing on a global scale, positioning her as an eminent figure within the realm of early childhood education. Her most recent innovative research delineates a set of design principles aimed at aiding early childhood educators in cultivating a growth mindset during the foundational years. Fiona has presented and published her research nationally and internationally as she seeks to support educators to foster a growth mindset culture in early learning centres, classrooms and schools.
